The team for the usage of integrated cohort data works on developing and spreading a risk chart for dementia, which is a key driver to reach the goal of promotion of dementia prevention laid down by IRIDE.
The risk chart for dementia enables us: 1) to predict the probability of incidence of dementia with a high accuracy based on multiple factors, such as the individual's lifestyle, medical history, and examination findings; and 2) to produce a figure and/or graph to show the extent of decrease in the risk of dementia upon excluding each risk factor. The risk cart is conducive to health guidance related to dementia prevention and personalized medicine for dementia.
We plan to analyze the data collected from multiple cohort studies that have been conducted by research teams of the Tokyo Metropolitan Institute of Gerontology and utilize the evidence obtained from our hospital database and biomarker studies. Finally, we hope dementia prevention strategies are applied in the future in Tokyo.

Profile

The team for the usage of integrated cohort data comprises each research group on social and human sciences of the Tokyo Metropolitan Institute of Gerontology. To develop a risk chart for dementia, we mainly handled data collected from five cohorts: Otassha Kenshin study for people in Itabashi ward; Septuagenarians, Octogenarians, Nonagenarians Investigation with Centenarians (SONIC) study; Kusatsu Longitudinal Study on Aging; Hatoyama Cohort Study; and Takashimadaira study. We drive the study associated with dementia prevention and dementia-friendly communities from multiple perspectives, including medical science, exercise, physical therapy, psychology, sociology, and nutrition.
