Our research team is conducting research based on knowledge and techniques in pathology, with the aim of elucidating the etiology of geriatric diseases that occur and increase with aging, and developing early diagnostic methods and new treatment methods. In particular, we are conducting research into the relationship between aging and cancer, the mechanisms of the onset of dementia, and neuropathological research using the Brain Bank for Aging Research. The characteristics of this research team are that, in addition to basic research into human aging and geriatric diseases, we are also conducting clinical biomedical research and pathological diagnostic research, and we are also involved in public research infrastructure promotion projects such as the elderly brain bank. Many of the researchers in this team are involved in hospital work that directly contributes to patients (pathological diagnosis, autopsy diagnosis, and neurological practice), and we play a role in connecting our center's hospital and research institute. In addition, this team is engaged in collaborative research with many domestic and international universities, research institutes, and hospitals on a daily basis.
